In Re B.092 - End Childhood Marriage Act
In re B.092 - End Childhood Marriage Act was a decision of the Dixie Supreme Court relating to the constitutionality of a prohibition on child marriage. Writing for the majority, Associate Justice Dewey Cheatem upheld the statute. Though applying strict scrutiny, the court found that the prohibition was narrowly tailored to advance the compelling government interest in protecting the health and well-being of children. However, the court struck down on First Amendment grounds one provision of the law that would have required the removal of persons who violate the law from their positions as clergy.
