Between 2018 and 2021, the Eastern State was officially known as the Commonwealth of the Chesapeake and colloquially known as Chesapeake or the Chesapeake. Chesapeake had the same boundaries as the contemporary state of Greater Appalachia. Politically, Chesapeake was largely controlled by the Democratic Party, who won most major races over the state's history. However, Chesapeake also served as a stronghold for the Bull Moose Party, producing a governor and two senators from the centrist third party. Later, Cheaspeake also saw a significant presence from the Socialist Party, who successfully elected a governor. The first governor of Chesapeake was WendellGoldwater, a Democrat, and the last governor was CDocwra, a Democrat-turned-Green. Federally, Chesapeake was known for its unique Electoral College vote allocation method, which proved decisive in ZeroOverZero101's victory in the June 2020 United States presidential election.
Current canon (2021-)[edit | edit source]
The first Governor of Greater Appalachia was CDocwra, a member of the Green Party during his governorship. He was succeeded in the March 2021 election by GoogMastr.
